This original Canadian Club inner box label was produced for T. E. Brooks & Co. of Red Lion, Pennsylvania. The bright orange ground commands attention, and the detail rewards it: a maple leaf rendered in rich, layered colors, a crest bearing what appears to be a beaver, an ornate wordmark in decorative font, and golden dot edging throughout. T. E. Brooks & Co. was founded in Red Lion, Pennsylvania in 1914, when Thomas E. Brooks, already an established Pennsylvania cigar manufacturer, combined with S. E. Sechrist to form the company — later also known as G. W. Van Slyke & Horton through subsequent ownership changes. Consolidated Lithographing Corporation was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 1925 by Jacob A. Voice and became one of the largest printers of paper labels in America in the early 20th century.
