A mother at her sewing, children gathered close — the kind of domestic scene that once hung in every American parlor and kitchen, rendered in the warm, golden light of the Dutch masters tradition.
This original calendar sample was printed by F.M.T. Lithographers of Joliet, IL, and numbered 82 in their catalog. The image is reminiscent of the work of Bernard Pothast, the Dutch master (1882–1966) known for luminous mother-and-child scenes — intimate, unhurried, completely at ease. The colors remain vivid and bright, remarkable for its age. This is a salesman sample, not a reproduction: attached to a sturdy cardboard mount with a sample of the rectangular calendar below. The front is pristine; the back shows marks suggesting it was once glued into a salesman's sample book — priced accordingly.
A lovely gift for illustration collectors, calendar ephemera enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates the intersection of fine art and American commercial history. A natural for a Mother's Day gift or a sentimental display.
