Made in Japan in the 1940s or '50s, they feature hand-painted decals of Italian-inspired fruit and Chianti bottles in their iconic raffia-wrapped baskets, set against light wood with beautifully executed dovetail joints. "Salt" and "Pepper" are lettered in clean block type. Faint traces of original red and gold foil labels are still visible.
