- Pattern: Unknown
- Made: in Japan
- Vintage: circa 1950 - 1957
- Details: Very rare, beautiful Amber Bowl Set. It contains 5 small glass bowls and five bamboo shaped forks with two prongs, typically used for fish, appetizers or fruit salad. The bowls are glass and have a grainy or bark-like texture (smooth on the inside), that looks very retro. The forks are stainless steel and the handles are made of what looks to be Bakelite. In the late 50's and 60's a plastic product didn’t mean cheap, companies were proud to show and advertise all the benefits of their man-made materials, it was a new and exciting time for plastics! The set is still in its original box, looks like it's never been used. The box reads: TOYO'S BOWL SET, Toyo Glass Company LTD with Japanese Characters on the other side. We have dated this item based on research and feel strongly that this set was manufactured prior to the 1957 Toyo merger with Sasaki Glass. Truly a Collector's Item, we saw a similar set being offered for $225.00 dollars! Perfect for salads, appetizers and even cereal.
