An open lattice of silverplate, oval and elegant — a bread tray that has been passing rolls at American tables for over eighty years.

The Homan Manufacturing Company operated in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1847 to 1941, producing silverplated hollowware under the EPNS mark — Electro Plated Nickel Silver. This tray bears their initials HMC alongside the Sheffield Design designation, which likely refers to the lattice/reticulated style associated with Sheffield silverwork rather than the English city itself. The pierced openwork catches light at every angle and makes it as pleasing empty as it is full. There are some condition issues consistent with its age — see below.

Beautiful on a brunch or breakfast table for bread, rolls, or cookies — equally at home as a catch-all at an entry table, a candy dish, or a small display tray.
