Embossed leaf veins run across the surface, and the mark on the base reads simply "Made in USA No. 7" — one of the many California potteries that produced utilitarian and decorative wares in the 1940s and 50s without attaching a maker's name. Collectors of this category, which broadly goes by "California USA Pottery," tend to seek by design and feel rather than maker — and this piece has both in good measure. Deep enough for nuts, candy, or jewelry.
