Few things in American glass are as instantly recognizable — or as enduringly lovely — as Fenton's Silver Crest.

  • Maker: Fenton Art Glass Company
  • Materials: Milk glass with clear glass edge, Silver Crest Double Crimped pattern
  • Dimensions: 3.75" tall; 8.25" wide (ruffle to ruffle)
  • Origin: Williamstown, West Virginia
  • Era: Vintage, pre-1970 (no Fenton mark)
  • Condition: Excellent vintage condition — no chips, cracks, or damage. Please review photos closely before purchasing, as all sales are final.

Introduced in 1942 and produced through 1986, Silver Crest pairs opaque white milk glass with a delicate clear glass edge, creating a border that looks almost like spun sugar. When that edge is also deeply ruffled, it becomes what Fenton called Double Crimped — and this 8" comport is a fine example: generous in proportion, graceful in form, glowing white against any surface. Because it lacks the Fenton mark on the base (that practice began around 1970), this piece is almost certainly from the earlier, more coveted production period.

Also known as a Comport, today we use the terms Compote and Comport interchangeably, however, "Comport" is essentially an older, 16th-century variation and some collectors and antique dealers still search for "compote" for deeper, sometimes lidded vessels, and "comport" for these shallower, flatter vessels.

Perfect for bridal showers, weddings, and baby showers — or simply for anyone who loves the quiet luxury of white milk glass. Fill it with flowers, fresh fruit, or small soaps, or display it alone where it can catch the light.
