• Details:  This is such a great find!  Brand new, in box (NOS - New Old Stock), ornaments of the very curious "Curious George"!.  Did you know that Curious George is 75 years old already?  He has been loved by so many generations, there's probably not too many people that aren't familiar with the lovable chimp and his adventures with the Man in the Yellow Hat. The ornaments are licensed by Universal Studios and have Curious George with a wreath, a candy cane, tangled in Christmas lights and three others.  Each individual ornament has a gold cord for hanging, an original gold foil sticker and it's stamped on the back: "Curious George, TM & copyright HMCo".   The set of 6 ornaments is in its original box and original packaging, brand new, never used and in excellent condition. Great stocking stuffer!!  This ornament will make a great addition to your ornament collection, it would also make a great gift for any comics collector, a Curious George fan or any boy or girl, or even an adult who loves to reminisce!  Great add-on gift tags for gifts wrapped in Curious George wrapping paper!

Curious George is a cartoon character in a series of popular children's books of the same name, written by H. A. Rey and Margret Rey with illustrations by Alan J. Shalleck.  There were seven original titles written by the series creators, Margret & H. A. Rey.  The first one, was released in 1941 titled simply: Curious George.  This book begins with George living in Africa and tells the story of his capture by the Man with the Yellow Hat, who takes him on a ship to "the big city" where he will live in a zoo.  It was followed by, Curious George Takes a Job (1947), Curious George Rides a Bike (1952), Curious George Gets a Medal (1957), Curious George Flies a Kite (1958), Curious George Learns the Alphabet (1963) and Curious George Goes to the Hospital (1966). Interesting fact, George was originally a secondary character named Fifi in a 1939 story called "Cecily G. and the Nine Monkeys" by Margret and H.A. Rey. The book originally came out in French as "Rafi et les Neuf Singes". But we all know by now that George is not really a Monkey, but an Ape, right?

H. A. Rey (Hans Augusto Reyersbach), and Margret Rey were both German born writers and illustrators known best for the Curious George series of children's picture books that they created from 1939 to 1966 with Hans doing most of the illustrations and Margret writing the stories.  While in Paris, Hans's animal drawings came to the attention of a French publisher, who commissioned him to write a children's book. The result, Cecily G. and the Nine Monkeys, is little remembered, but one of its characters, an adorably impish monkey named Curious George, was such a success that the couple considered writing a book focused entirely on him. The outbreak of World War II interrupted their work. Being Jews, the Reys had to flee Paris before the Nazis invaded the city. This took them on a whirlwind through different countries finally settling in Europe and later in Cambridge, Mass. in 1963 where he stayed and lived until their death, Hans in 1977, Margret died in 1996.
