This is the third plate in Robert Laessig's "Winter Scene" series (issued 1973–1977), signed by the artist and bordered with a sentimental verse about old friends and years gone by. Laessig had a remarkable career — a WWII combat artist with paintings hung in the Pentagon, he went on to design Christmas cards for the White House throughout the 1960s and illustrate covers for Newsweek before his death in 2010 at age 97.
