Billingsley Rose is one of Spode's most enduring patterns — produced from 1924 to 1969 in seven distinct rose variations, each piece hand-colored in the early years, which means no two are quite the same. This 6.25-inch earthenware plate dates to 1944-1946 (impressed backstamp, some legible to month), and carries the old red backstamp: Spode's Jewel, Copeland, Spode England, Reg No 70392, Spode's Billingsley Rose. The border is extraordinarily fine, like pressed lace, with a soft pink rose at center.
