"North Carolina" is spelled out in bold orange block letters outlined in black. The map is printed in bright orange and lettered in black, and it marks several cities like: Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Durham with Duke University, Raleigh, Greenville, and Wilmington. Landmarks include Grandfather Mountain, Smoky Mountain National Park, Linville Caverns, Blowing Rock, Chimney Rock, the Old Market House, and the Cherokee Indian Reservation. The fired-on design is raised and crisply printed and the base is unmarked.
A great find for the collector building a fifty-state set, for a Tar Heel, and for anyone who loves the Blue Ridge and the Carolina coast.
Grandfather Mountain, marked in the western mountains, is one of North Carolina's best-known landmarks. Its Mile High Swinging Bridge was built in 1952 by Hugh Morton, and it links two rocky peaks at more than a mile above sea level. Known as America's highest suspension bridge. Places like Linville Caverns, Blowing Rock and Chimney Rock, drew mountain vacationers for generations, and the glass works as a small souvenir of a Carolina road trip.
