A large hand-applied orange rose dominates the lid, surrounded by smaller flowers; the entire body is embossed with swirls outlined in gold; both longer sides carry additional hand-applied flowers and leaves. Footed. Based on the logo, this piece dates to between 1922 and 1944.
On a vanity, a dressing table, or a collector's shelf. A rare find from a maker that closed in 1948 — pieces in this condition seldom surface.
The Takito Company, founded in Nagoya in 1880, was among Japan's most distinguished porcelain exporters — exhibiting at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago and the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, and celebrated during the Art Deco era for their intricate moriage and lusterware.
