Weidlich Brothers Manufacturing Co. was founded in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1901 by Louis and Charles Weidlich, and became one of America's most respected makers of silverplated and ornamental metalwork — candlesticks, inkwells, clocks, and jewelry caskets among them. Louis Weidlich died in 1950 and the company closed shortly after, its assets acquired by Web Silver. Pieces surviving in this condition are increasingly rare.
