This tray's collapsible handle and rose-etched medallions at each end give it the cinematic quality of a butler's tray from an old film — the kind that once carried an envelope or a single crystal glass.

A slim rectangular tray with a rose medallion etched at each end and an intricate scrolled border framing an engraved center. The collapsible handle makes it easy to carry and equally elegant to display flat. At this compact size, it's lovely as a mail tray at the entry, a candy or chocolate server at the table, a jewelry or keys catch-all on a dresser, or a decorative accent on a shelf or buffet.

Butler trays, traditionally carried folded under one arm to serve drinks or correspondence in formal households, became a popular decorative form throughout the mid-20th century — this piece, made in Hong Kong during the 1960s and '70s, reflects that same romantic silver-service tradition scaled down for everyday American homes.
