A pierced silverplate tray cradling a five-part Daisy and Button glass insert — two classic English traditions in one serving piece.
Mayfair is a silverplate brand of Ensee Ltd., Sheffield — the city synonymous with English silversmithing since the 18th century. This 1960s serving tray combines a pierced (reticulated) silverplate outer gallery, decorated with Mayfair's characteristic scrollwork, with a fitted five-part Daisy and Button pressed glass insert that lifts out for easy cleaning. The silverplate tray can also be used independently as a gallery tray. Note: the silver tray has a small dent at the rim and some discoloration on the inside borders — both shown in photos and priced accordingly. The glass insert is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or scratches.
A beautifully layered hosting piece for appetizers, condiments, relishes, or cheeses — the glass protects the silver while the silver elevates the glass. A thoughtful hostess or housewarming gift for anyone who entertains formally or collects English silverplate and pressed glass together.
