There is something quietly meditative about these cups before you even fill them.
This pair of Japanese yunomi — the handleless cups made for slow, contemplative drinking — carries a simple, elegant pattern: a white lotus blossom with a golden center and fine brown pistils, trailing along a vine of broad green leaves to a delicate bud. The background fades in a soft ombré from deep charcoal at the rim to near-white at the base, giving each cup a sense of depth and movement. Both are finished with a slim gold rim and a small foot; the bases bear blue Japanese characters. We think they're equally lovely as votive holders.
A serene gift for the tea lover, the collector of Japanese ceramics, or anyone drawn to objects that hold a little stillness.
