The set includes a teacup with saucer, milk pitcher, fruit bowl, and two bread & butter plates, all in the same iridescent finish with gold accents. Every piece carries the same factory stamp, a mark used until 1992, though we date this pattern between 1945 and the early 1960s.
Lovely for a breakfast tray for one or two, a bridal shower or housewarming gift, or the collector of iridescent Czech porcelain.
The M+Z mark belongs to the Altrohlau porcelain works, which Moritz Zdekauer took over at auction in 1884. In 1909 the firm was bought by C.M. Hutschenreuther, who kept the well-known MZ mark. The factories operated until 1945, when they were nationalized, and the company became private again in 1992. In 2013 Bohemia porcelán Moritz Zdekauer purchased the trademark and assets, and porcelain is still made today in Stará Role, the town once known as Altrohlau.
