Large pink roses scattered freely across the cup, four roses around the saucer border, both pieces embossed with fine swirls that catch light in the glaze — and underneath it all, porcelain so translucent it seems to hold the light rather than merely reflect it. The footed cup has a softly rounded Victorian silhouette that makes it feel both timeless and distinctly mid-century Japanese.
The backstamp reads simply "Japan" — no maker's name, no pattern number, which was not uncommon for mid-century export porcelain produced for the American market. What it tells you is enough: made in Japan, made with care, made to be beautiful. Gold rim and handle detail in very good condition.
A lovely piece for a rose lover, a teacup collector, or a gift for someone who appreciates the quietly beautiful. Wonderful for Mother's Day, a birthday, a bridal shower, or a housewarming.
