Gold and rust florals ring the lid of this Andrea by Sadek porcelain silent butler, a 1960s table accessory from Japan with a gilded handle and a metal shell accent.

An absolutely gorgeous silent butler (also known as a crumb catcher) in fine porcelain. Beautiful gold and rust florals decorate the lid and the lower half, with gold scrolls around the rim, and the handle is also gilded, with a very pretty metal shell on the hinged lid. Replacements, Ltd. calls this gold floral pattern G926. It is stamped on the bottom "7424" and retains its original foil label, which reads: "Andrea by Sadek, Made in Japan." These became very popular in the 1960s, used not only to collect crumbs at the table but, given the smoking of that era, to collect ashes and keep ashtrays clean while guests were visiting.

A beautiful addition to a well-appointed dinner table, bar, or game room, adding a touch of class and nostalgia while it collects the crumbs.

Andrea by Sadek was founded in 1936 by Charles and Norman Sadek, and it is also known as Charles Sadek Import Company, headquartered in New Rochelle, New York. Charles named the company Andrea in honor of his daughter. After World War II, Norman Sadek began trade with Japan and inspired Japanese factories to produce higher quality products, which is why you can still occasionally find Andrea by Sadek pieces stamped "Occupied Japan." Sadek became a leader in the gift and tableware industry, with porcelain products ranging from flowers, birds, and other figurines to salt and pepper shakers, tea sets, lamps, and dinnerware.
