  • Pattern:  Vintage Silent Butler / Crumb Catcher, Andrea by Sadek #7424, Gold Floral (Discontinued)
  • Made in:  Japan
  • Vintage:  1960's
  • Details:  An absolutely gorgeous silent butler (aka crumb catcher), by Andrea by Sadek, made of fine porcelain.  It has beautiful gold and rust florals on the lid, (Replacements calls this gold floral pattern G926), and on the lower half, plus gold scrolls around the rim.  The handle is also gilded, with a very pretty metal shell on the hinged lid.  These became very popular in the 60's, not only for collecting crumbs at the table but with the allure of smoking of that era, they were used to collect ashes, keep ashtrays clean while guests were visiting.  It is stamped on the bottom: "7424"and retains its original foil label that reads: "Andrea by Sadek, Made in Japan."  A beautiful addition to your well appointed dinner table, bar or game room, perfect for your table to collect crumbs, an added accent piece and touch of class and nostalgia.

Andrea by Sadek was founded in 1936 by Charles and Norman Sadek and it is still family owned.  It is also known as Charles Sadek Import Company and they are  headquartered in New Rochelle, New York.  Charles named the company Andrea in honor of his daughter, who is still involved in the design of their products.  After WWII Norman Sadek started trade with Japan an inspired Japanese factories to produce higher quality products.  You can still find, if rarely, Andrea by Sadek products in the market with the stamp “Occupied Japan”.   Sadek is a leader in the gift and tableware industry, they have beautiful porcelain products such as: flowers, birds and other figurines, as well as salt and pepper shakers, tea sets and tea accessories, lamps, dinnerware and much more.  Sadly in November, 2010, Norman  Sadek passed away.  Today his son Jim, along with his wife, and Norman's daughters Andrea and Lauren, all run the company.
