- Antique Sugar Shaker, Muffineer, Dispenser, Sugar Caster, (Sugar Castor), Hand Painted Fruits, Porcelain Condiment Dispenser, Vintage Collectibles, Vintage Kitchen, Tableware, Servingware, (Discontinued)
- Antique: early 1900's - 1930's (estimated)
- Description: Beautiful hand painted fruits on this sugar shaker / muffineer! It has a wonderful scalloped shape, gilded border, and pierced with 13 holes for shaking sugar onto fruits and scones. These porcelain shakers became popular in the USA after 1905 (earlier versions had metal lids that corroded), people began to favor the porcelain sugar shakers. The hand painted grapes and apples are very well done, possibly by a high society woman, who were known to have "painting clubs", and decorated imported porcelain blanks to pass the time. Some say these are hatpin holders, however, after some research, we learned hatpin holders do not have a hole on the bottom, (used to refill the sugar), so we are pretty sure these are for sugar, but use them as you like. These shakers can be used for all kinds of powders, like: cinnamon, powdered sugar, vanilla sugar, and even in the bath for bath salts or powder. Would enhance any vintage styled buffet table or breakfast setting.
