  • Details:  This is an absolutely gorgeous and extremely rare serving platter! The pattern is called "The Beauties of China", known as "flow black ironstone", with a design very similar to other willow patterns, it includes a Chinese pagoda, willow trees, a wooden bridge with people crossing, and mountains. The rectangular platter has a very intricate border design with swirls and flowers, all in black which gives it a lovely, elegant, very romantic look. The platter is stamped with an incised mark: "Ironstone" in a semicircle. It has a very sturdy plate hanger already attached, we will leave it on for you.  If you are looking for a unique piece for your wall or display case, this one will not disappoint.  Excellent gift for an English Transferware collector.  Price Includes shipping.

  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Excellent Antique Condition. This piece is 184 years old, all issues noted are acceptable due to age/use/wear.  No chips or cracks. There is crazing and discoloration, which is part of the natural aging of this porous clay.  There are some small scattered glaze pops and dark pinpoint dots.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  All Sales Final. Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear  and imperfections.  

Mellor, Venables & Co was founded by Charles Mellor and John Venables, in 1834 Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England.  Unfortunately this partnership didn't last long, it was dissolved  on June 30th, 1851.   However, John Venables continued for 5 more years on his own and with other partners, all were short partnerships:  Venables & Baines, (1850 - 1852); Venables, Mann & Co, (1852 - 1856), and John Venables & Co, (1853 – 1855)
