This piece appears to be a rare studio edition or limited artisan run rather than standard production. The base carries a hand-scribed mark reading "R.K. 3075" (or possibly 3035) alongside "F.W." — the latter linking it to master glassworker Fred "Freddie" Wilkerson, whose son, Fred Jr., continued using the F.W. mark into the 1990s to preserve his father's studio branding. The "R.K." initials may belong to a guest artist; Wilkerson is known to have occasionally invited outside artists to create experimental molds, test pieces, or small studio-exclusive runs. This elephant's earless design departs from the company's typical output, suggesting it may be exactly that kind of experimental test mold — making it a genuinely uncommon find for collectors of American studio art glass.
