Lilac in daylight, pale blue in lamplight — the color shifts with the room.

A blown glass dolphin leaping from a clear glass sphere, made from neodymium glass — also known as Alexandrite glass — a distinctive material produced primarily in Scandinavia, Italy, and the Czech Republic during the 1950s–1970s. The color-shifting property is the hallmark: lavender or pink in natural daylight, pale blue or green under incandescent light. Unmarked, as most art glass of this type is, we've photographed it in different lighting conditions.  In most he looks blue but in daylight he looks lavender/purple.

On a windowsill where the light can play with it, on a coastal shelf, or as a summer accent anywhere near the sea. A lovely gift for a dolphin lover, an art glass collector, or anyone who appreciates the quiet magic of light through glass.
