Johann Haviland, grandson of David Haviland and son of Charles Haviland of Limoges, founded his own china company in 1907, carrying forward a family name already synonymous with fine French porcelain. The brand eventually passed through Rosenthal's ownership before this later production run in Thailand — Moss Rose has remained one of its most enduringly popular patterns across generations of American tea tables.
