Before the salt shaker, there was the salt cellar — and before the individual cellar, there was the master salt, placed at the center of the table for all to share. This round example in the beloved Daisy and Button pattern is one we haven't seen duplicated anywhere.
The Daisy and Button pattern wraps the entire bowl in its characteristic geometric flower-and-diamond grid, and the glass carries a faint lavender-pink tint — the result of manganese dioxide reacting to ultraviolet light over decades of sun exposure. Entirely natural, and prized by collectors. The glass is thick, blown, and heavy. A spoon is included, though not original, nor antique.
A wonderfully rare form for a Daisy and Button collector, a pressed glass enthusiast, or anyone who finds beauty in the marks that time leaves behind.
