Before the salt shaker, there was the salt cellar — and before the individual cellar, there was the master salt, placed at the center of the table for all to share. This one comes with a provenance most don't.

This rectangular frosted glass salt cellar bears the "D within a Diamond" mark of the Dugan Glass Company — used only between 1904 and 1909, before the company became Diamond Glass in 1913. Very few Dugan pieces were marked at all, which makes this a genuinely rare find for collectors of American art glass. The frosted glass is thick and elegantly simple; the form is clean and understated. A spoon is included, though not original, nor antique.

An exceptional piece for a Dugan-Diamond collector, an American glass specialist, or anyone who wants something genuinely rare on their table or shelf.
