A charming choice for collectors of kitchen advertising and promotional pieces, a retro kitchen display, or a gift for the cook who loves a good recipe card.
Charles William Post (1854–1914) arrived in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1891 as a patient at John Harvey Kellogg's sanitarium, and by 1895 he had founded the Postum Cereal Company there, launching with Postum, a roasted grain beverage offered as a coffee alternative. Grape-Nuts followed in 1897 as his first cold cereal, and Elijah's Manna, renamed Post Toasties in 1908, came after. His daughter Marjorie Merriweather Post led the company following his death, and it became General Foods Corporation in 1929. Advertising pieces like this recipe box kept the Post name on the kitchen counter, filed alongside a family's favorite recipes.
