This lithograph depicts John F. Kennedy, the 35th President, alongside his brother Robert F. Kennedy, after a 1965 portrait by artist Sanger, printed in 1968 by Corp A. Fox Lithographers as a memorial following Bobby Kennedy's assassination. From original factory stock, never circulated. Two available.
Suitable for framing; we recommend framing to preserve it — a wonderful piece for a Kennedy memorabilia collector, a political history enthusiast, an American history buff, or anyone who wants an original piece of 1968 memorial history on their wall.
The portrait was created by Sanger in 1965, capturing both brothers at a moment when the Kennedy legacy was already beginning to be understood as something larger than politics. When Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated on June 6, 1968 — five years after his brother John fell in Dallas on November 22, 1963 — Corp A. Fox Lithographers printed this piece as a memorial: a country's response to losing two men who had come to represent something particular about American aspiration and loss. It stands today as a primary document of American grief in 1968, produced in the immediate aftermath of Bobby's death, from factory stock that was never distributed.
