  • Details:  A very beautiful botanical print of pink Camellias and White Anemone, plate number 29.  Lithograph by Benoit Chirat (1795 - 1870), French artist best known for his still life fruits, flowers and botanical paintings.  Engraved by Benard and Published by A.P.P. Co Inc, New York (Artistic Picture Publishing).  This is a beautiful and rare piece, suitable for framing.

  • Condition:  Vintage - Used  Very Good Condition. In the late 1930's and 1940's, APP Inc., (Artistic Picture Publishing), purchased a number of originals and then reproduced the images full-size. Their name is written in block or script letters along the bottom right of the print. These often sell today for $50 to $100.

Robert Bénard born in 1734 in Paris, was a French engraver. (real name Jacques Renaud Benard). He specialized in the technique of engraving.  Bénard is mainly famous for having supplied a significant amount of plates (at least 1,800) to the Encyclopédie by Diderot & d'Alembert from 1751.  He died in 1794 (updated, earlier thought it was 1777).
