  • Dimensions: 3.5 inches Tall, 2.25 inches Wide, 0.75 inches Deep
  • Origin: USA
  • Era: Vintage 1965

The cover card reads "Whitman Slap Jack, 45 Card Deck, Rule Card Included" and is numbered 4499, with Western Publishing Co., Inc. and "Printed in USA" noted. The deck has no Queens or Kings, which is why it holds 45 cards instead of 52, and the cover card is part of the game too. The back of the cover card gives the object and rules of the game, and the date 1965 appears at the bottom of the rules.

A nostalgic pick for collectors of vintage children's games and playing cards, or for a grandparent who wants to pass along a game they once played.

Whitman was the children's books and games imprint of Western Publishing, the Racine, Wisconsin, firm better known for Little Golden Books. Slap Jack is a classic quick-reflexes game: players turn cards face up in turn, and the first to slap a Jack takes the pile.
