  • Pattern: Clinchfield Artware, Grace Pitcher with Pink Flowers (similar to Prairie Rose), Hand Painted
  • Made in Erwin, TN, USA
  • Vintage: 1945 - 1957
Details:  This pitcher is a very desirable pottery piece made by Clinchfield Artware (in the mid 1950's was re-named Cash Family Pottery).  It has a wonderful shaped known as the Grace Pitcher with lots of side panels and a chubby body and round foot.  The handle has wonderful textured flowers.  It is known that Ray Cash made some of the earlier molds himself, but this one looks just like the Southern Potteries Grace shaped pitcher, and we know Ray Cash purchased many of the Southern Pottery molds.  This creamer is hand painted with pink flowers, very similar to the Southern Pottery's Prairie Rose pattern.  We have not seen another one like it, these are highly collectible.  There are some minor manufacturing flaws, please see below for more details.  It is stamped on the bottom, very hard to read:  "Clinchfield Artware, Hand Painted, Erwin, Tennessee".  Great gift for a pottery collector, and pretty kitchen decor too!
  • Material:  Ceramic
  • Dimensions:  5.75 inches Tall, 7.0 inches Wide (spout to handle) and Holds 20 oz (2.5 cups)
  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Very Good Vintage Condition.  The bright-white areas are not flaws, only light reflections.  There are a few manufacturing flaws, all photographed for you:  paint flicks on spout, missing glaze on a small flower area, and one small rounded bit of clay may have been left in the mold has a divot.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  All Sales Final.  Please remember these are ANTIQUE and VINTAGE items, they are NOT NEW, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.
Ray and Pauline Cash originally opened the Clinchfield Artware Pottery in 1945 in Erwin, Tennessee.  They had dreamed of starting their own pottery earlier but quickly had to put their dreams on hold when Ray was drafted during WWII.  He returned home in 1945 and got busy opening the Clinchfield Artware Pottery.  Ray was making their own molds and Pauline was making mud in an old washing machine. The name was not officially changed to Cash Family Pottery until the mid 1950's.  In 1957, Blue Ridge Southern Potteries in TN closed and the Cashes purchased all of the casings and some of the molds which increased the number of items they could make, they had more molds than decorative patterns.  They continued growing through the 60's but when Ray died, in the mid 1980's, and Pauline suffered a stroke, they closed production.
