A Tennessee family pottery, a Depression-era mold, and pink flowers painted by hand.

Ray and Pauline Cash opened Clinchfield Artware in Erwin, Tennessee in 1945 after Ray returned from WWII, later renaming it Cash Family Pottery in the mid-1950s. This Grace-shaped pitcher — a chubby-bodied, paneled form with a textured floral handle — is hand painted with pink flowers closely resembling Southern Potteries’ Prairie Rose pattern, using molds the Cashes acquired when Blue Ridge Southern Potteries closed in 1957. Stamped “Clinchfield Artware, Hand Painted, Erwin, Tennessee.” A few minor manufacturing flaws (paint flicks on spout, small missing glaze area, tiny clay divot) — all photographed and entirely characteristic of this beloved studio pottery tradition.
