- Details: This vintage 'Sandy the Dog' pinback is a must-have for any vintage pin collector. Little Orphan Annie was a daily comic strip created by Harold Gray, it started on August 5, 1924, however, Sandy the dog was not introduced until January 1925. The rim of this pin reads: "COPR. 1945 Famous Artists Syn." The back reads: Kellogg's PEP". In 1945 Kellogg's started inserting these pinback buttons as prizes for purchasing Pep Cereal, some are getting extremely hard to find. Pinbacks eventually became associated with political campaigns, but today there are many different designs, collected either by theme, age, maker, etc. These buttons can be used on book bags, headbands, ID tags some even make jewelry w/them. Lots of nostalgia in these little pins.
