This vintage Greetings from Miami pennant, a "Large Letter" design hand-screened in raised enamel on wool felt, is a genuinely rare find in post-war tropical Americana.

The heavy wool body shows even sun-mellowing on the front face, which has transitioned to a handsome olive green, while the reverse remains a vibrant grass green. The pointed tip has frayed over the decades and is now rounded rather than sharp. Light, faint vintage stains on the white enamel lettering and on the mustard yellow sleeve binding. The tassels show light age discoloration; three are fully intact, while one has been clipped short (see close-up photos). The bold "MIAMI" block lettering serves as a vibrant canvas for miniature, hand-screened illustrations. Look closely and you will spot classic Florida landmarks and imagery — sailing yachts, sunbathing beachgoers, pink flamingos, and the historic Miami Jockey Club and Bayfront Park names tucked inside the letters.

What sets this piece apart for collectors is its typographic variety and dense framing. It features four distinct, stylized fonts: a playful, kinetic "moving letter" font for "Greetings," a delicate cursive script for "from," the heavily illustrated block style for "MIAMI," and a rounded, architectural capital font for "FLORIDA." Swimming along the sides and darting between the letters is a lively marine scene of colorful striped reef fish and sea coral. The entire layout is brought to life in thick, raised oil-based enamel paints in just four colors — fluorescent hot pink, soft light yellow, rich ocean blue, and crisp white — a vivid contrast against the wool backdrop.
