A small wooden box with a big story on its lid — a colorful lithograph of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, the kind of detail that turns a school supply into a keepsake.
This antique pencil case dates to the early 1900s, with three separate compartments and metal hinges built for genuine daily use. The lithograph has crinkled slightly and shows some staining with age, but remains fully attached and remarkably vivid for its years. The original locking mechanism is partially intact, though the key — and the lock itself — is long gone. A rare survivor, and a charming one.
A wonderful find for the Americana collector, the antique lover, or anyone drawn to old schoolroom and back-to-school memorabilia.
