A piece of American advertising history — and a record worth preserving. Missing Internal Shaker, For Display ONLY.
This Aunt Jemima paprika shaker was made by F&F Mold & Die Works in Dayton, Ohio, starting in 1949 as a promotional giveaway for Quaker Oats customers who saved Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix box tops. Aunt Jemima stands in her red dress, matching headscarf, white apron, and white neckerchief. Paint loss is present and is acceptable given the age and use — it is part of what makes this an honest survivor.
Black Americana collectibles are a meaningful and complex category. This piece honors Nancy Green — one of the first African-American models, and the advertising world's first living trademark — while also preserving an unvarnished record of American commercial history. We encourage purchase with intent for preservation and for the greater good. We have a separate listing of the same shakers in better condition all with internal shakers intact, at a higher price point, search Aunt Jemima if interested in more.
