This Raggedy Ann and Andy set was imported from Japan in the 1950s–60s, pieced together from felt, cloth, and yarn, with hand-painted faces and fabric scrap clothing true to the era. The characters themselves date back further still — Raggedy Ann was created by writer and illustrator Johnny Gruelle, who patented the doll design in 1915 and introduced her in a 1918 storybook; Andy joined her in 1920. The pair became a beloved fixture of American childhood for generations, which is exactly the nostalgia these ornaments were designed to capture. Andy still retains his original "Made in Japan" label.
