A delicate pair of 1950s Japanese imports, these flocked blond angel heads are wired to wrap right onto your branches.

Smaller and softer-edged than their stockinette cousins, these flocked angels were another mid-century Japan variation on the classic angel head ornament — wire stems in place of wooden picks, made for wrapping directly around a branch rather than hanging.

A sweet pair on their own, or a lovely addition to a fuller flock of ornaments on the tree.

Flocking gave Japanese ornament makers a quick way to add texture and softness to a small figure, and angel heads like these were turned out in huge numbers for the postwar American Christmas market. The wire stem design made them easy to wrap onto branches, a small manufacturing choice that's still evident in how well these have held up.
