A red velvet mouse wearing a gold-trimmed nightcap sleeps on a wedge of cheese made of metallic gold fabric. He has a curled chenille tail ending in a pom-pom, and the cheese is dotted with gold sequin "holes" and finished with a small gold and red striped stocking. A gold cord is attached for hanging.  While this ornament has lost its original paper tag, we traced it to Mr. Christmas and were able to date it to 1968.

A fun gift for vintage Christmas collectors, mouse lovers, or anyone who enjoys a whimsical "Night Before Christmas" display. These are hard to find.

Mr. Christmas was founded in 1933 by Merril Hermanson, who began by designing Christmas window displays for local businesses and selling tinsel from the back of his truck. The company grew into a full line of seasonal decorations and is best known today for its animated and musical pieces. In the late 1960s it also sold handmade Japanese ornaments in velvet, gold fabric, and felt, many marked with the company name and the year.
