  • Made in USA
  • Vintage:  1930's
  • Details:  Gorgeous label, heavily embossed and gilded stone lithograph.  It features a very nice portrait of our 32nd President, Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR).  During tobacco's golden age, a large majority of men smoked cigars so it was not unusual for cigar companies to issue special brands for a party candidate they supported (or who paid them a nice sum), during election years, this was another, very successful, marketing strategy for the candidates.  After the election the brands would be discontinued and many of these beautifully printed labels would never be used.  This label is a great example of the high quality embossing, gilding, and the beautiful colors that were achieved with a lithograph.  Smaller versions of this label, (only the portrait section), are everywhere, this large size is a rare find in this condition, original, unused, suitable for framing, and recommended to maintain this condition.   Great as a collector's item, for a cigar aficionado, collector.  Would look wonderful framed and hung in a study, library or man-cave or bar.  A great gift for a history enthusiast, FDR fan, or someone who collects political memorabilia.

Chromolithography is a unique method for making multi-color prints.  It became the most successful of several methods of color printing developed by the 19th century.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) was an American statesman and political leader who served as the 32nd President of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945.  He is remembered for winning 4 Presidential elections (in 1951 the Constitution was ratified, so Presidents can only serve 2 terms).  Roosevelt was in office during the Great Depression and is famous for implementing his New Deal to correct the worst economic crisis in U.S. history (till today).  He was President during WWII.  Although he rarely wanted to be seen in his wheelchair, Roosevelt had contracted polio in 1921 when he was 39 years old and was paralyzed from the waist down.  He is often counted  as one of three greatest U.S. Presidents, (George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are the other two).
