This fan is double-sided, with painted cranes on both faces and additional painted cranes in brown on both guards. We believe the wood is sandalwood, based on its light color and its notably light weight.
A lovely gift for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, or an outdoor summer get-together, and equally at home as decor — framed and hung on the wall, opened on a stand, or displayed as a backdrop for figurines and other knick-knacks.
Folding hand fans were introduced in the West in the 17th century, quickly becoming both a practical way to stay cool and a fashion accessory akin to a brooch or bracelet — worn and shown as small pieces of art.
