Pink roses, forget-me-nots, and a real fabric ribbon — someone at Norcross cared very much about this card.
Norcross Greeting Card Co. was founded in New York in the 1920s by Arthur and Jane Norcross, a brother and sister who built their reputation on copper plate etchings, handmade papers, and cards of genuine beauty. The Smithsonian Institution has documented their legacy. This Mother's Day card is a quiet masterpiece of the form: a bouquet of pink roses and forget-me-nots, tied with an actual fabric ribbon in pink and blue — not printed, real. The front reads: "I'm Thinking of You Mother." No envelope, but the card itself is in extraordinary condition for its age: no writing, no stains, no folds, no tanning. Norcross was eventually sold, merged, and ultimately lost to bankruptcy in the early 1980s — making surviving examples like this genuinely scarce.
A card for a collector who recognizes what they're looking at, or a gift for a mother who deserves something that has survived eighty years waiting to be given.
