A card that looks like an envelope — and inside the envelope, there's a card you can actually pull out and write on.
This is the kind of small design ingenuity that made 1940s greeting cards so much more interesting than their modern counterparts. The illustration shows an open envelope surrounded by pink roses against a blue background scattered with small purple thistles — and a miniature card protruding from the envelope, which actually slides out so a message can be written inside. Marked A. & W. T-2577, USA. There is pencil writing inside, easily erased, a very light tanning, and one corner fold — all noted and photographed. No outer envelope.
A charming and unusual piece for a vintage card collector, a paper ephemera enthusiast, or anyone who appreciates when form and function are delightfully one.
