  • Pattern:  Vintage Stemmed Cocktail Glasses, Golden Foliage, Mid Century Starlyte 59-W (S7T4) (Discontinued)
  • Made in: USA by Starlyte, Inc
  • Vintage: circa 1970's
  • Details:  These are Starlyte glasses sometimes incorrectly linked to Libbey.  Libbey made a very similar pattern (introduced in 1956), called Golden Foliage.  This pattern was so successful many other manufacturers imitated it including Starlyte and Anchor Hocking.  On Libbey's 1968 catalog it states: "This is the genuine Golden Foliage line and its imitators are endless".  According to the Museum of American Glass, Anchor Hocking made the blank glass pieces for Starlyte, this is Starlyte's 59-W pattern.  Just like Libbey's, this pattern consists of lovely 22K gold leaves within a frosted band.  Side by side comparisons of Libbey and Starlyte patterns reveals slight variations on the leaves and on the stemware, you'll notice Starlyte has long, thin stems while Libbey has thicker stems with "bulbs" on the bottom.  These are meant for serving cocktails, but could be used as a small wine glass too.  Great as Fall bar and Mid Century bar cart decor!
  • Materials:  Glass
  • Dimensions:  6.0 inches Tall, 2.0 inches in Diameter (top opening), 2.5 inches in Diameter (bottom foot).
  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Very Good Vintage Condition.  There is wear on the gold.  One glass shows more wear than the rest.  Also, another glass has a manufacturer defect on the gold rim, it's smeared a little bit beyond the rim. All acceptable due to age/use/wear.   There are no chips, cracks.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.
There is very little history on Starlyte Inc. and many attribute this name to Libbey but that is not correct.  Starlyte was a company started in New York on September 1, 1970 and were in existence for only a few years.  They closed their doors on December 23, 1992.  During those years they released at least 8 well known patterns all decorated in 22 karat gold.  We could not find any information on why they closed but we did find that their patterns don't have names, just letters and numbers.
