Barton's Bonbonniere, better known as Barton's Candy, was founded in 1938 New York, by Stephen Klein and his five brothers, Viennese immigrants who's family had been candy makers. Barton's Bonbonniere was in business for approximately 26 years, the Klein family sold the business sometime after the 1960's. Stephen Klein died December 18, 1978, at Beth Israel Hospital, he was 71 years old. The company ceased operations in 1994 when it was purchased by Loft, Inc, which closed the remaining stores.
