  • Pattern: Vintage Cookie Tin with Roses and Hearts, Roses are Forever
  • Made in England
  • Vintage: 1970's (estimated)
  • Details:  This is such a pretty tin!!  It is a rare octagonal shape, we think it is very romantic and perfect for Valentine's Day, but of course with it's Roses and Hearts theme, it's appropriate for gifting anyone you truly care for.  It is red with gorgeous pink roses and pink ribbons on all sides.  Behind the roses are elaborate "lace doilies", that really accentuate the message of romance.  There are tiny golden hearts all over the tin and some of the roses are accented in gold-metal tone as well.  It has a very clean and shiny interior.  Embossing on the bottom reads: "Container made in England".  This is a rare one, we did not find one like it anywhere.  Would make a great gift for a tin collector or to fill with sweet goodies to give away, beautiful in a collection!  Also makes a pretty storage container.

We believe this tin was made for Peek Freans, a biscuit manufacturer, in London England.  Founded by two sons of James Peek in the 1800's, they eventually turned the business over to James' nice, Hannah Peek, who had married George Freans and they were the ones who registered the company in 1857 as Peek, Freans & Co. Ltd.  The company went through a couple of name changes, first to Peek Frean, in the early twentieth century, then later in the 1970's to Peek Freans.  The company was broken up in 1982 when it was purchased by Nabisco.
