Made exclusively in England for Warner/Lauren Ltd in the 1970s — in the wake of Ralph Lauren's Polo launch and the equestrian aesthetic that followed — this large hinged-lid tin reproduces an engraved print by Charles Hunt after the original painting by John Sturgess. The bottom is embossed: "Made in England Exclusively for Warner/Lauren Ltd" with the Ralph Lauren Polo logo. Limited edition and discontinued.
A must-have for the Ralph Lauren collector, the equestrian enthusiast, or anyone who prizes the intersection of fashion and art on a tin.
Sturgess was a celebrated hunting and racing artist and lithographer; Hunt's engraving brought his work to wide audiences.
