This container opens into two halves, each with its own illustration: a couple of rabbits in the garden picking carrots and tomatoes on one side, a rabbit asleep while fishing on the other. The seams are edged in bright green paper, with a different image on each half. It's marked "1984 Midwest Importers of Cannon Falls Inc" on the outside and "Container Made in Western Germany" on the inside.

Made for the Easter holiday, these treat boxes typically feature spring motifs — rabbits, ducks, chicks, or florals tied to seasonal renewal. This one is empty; fill it with treats or display it to bring a nostalgic, old-world look to your spring and Easter decor.

Midwest Importers was started in 1952 by a pastor named Ken Althoff in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. After a multiple sclerosis diagnosis forced him to give up his ministry, he began importing religious and holiday items to sell from his basement, and the business grew enough that he closed his gift store in 1964 to focus on it full time. It remained family-run until 1994, when the company dropped "Importers" from its name to become Midwest of Cannon Falls; it later passed through Bain Capital and Blyth Inc. before merging into Midwest-CBK in 2009, ending the Midwest Importers name for good.
