The Old Ivory line was introduced by the Onondaga Pottery Company (OPCO) in 1926, but Arcadia itself wasn't added until 1949 — a date confirmed by both the pattern records and the backstamp style. Syracuse China's story begins in 1871 in upstate New York; it was James Pass who developed the translucent formula that became known as "Syracuse China" by 1893, and the company went on to supply hotels, restaurants, and fine homes across America for over a century.
