This piece carries the name of John B Taylor, who purchased Louisville, Kentucky's historic pottery — founded in 1815 as Louisville Pottery — in 1938 and operated it as the J.B. Taylor Company for over three decades. When Taylor died in 1970, the company was sold and renamed Louisville Stoneware, the name it carries to this day. This crock is a piece of that earlier chapter — Kentucky stoneware craftsmanship stretching back over two centuries.
