Each angel sits barefoot in a long cream colored gown, with softly sculpted curls, rosy painted cheeks, and finely feathered wings swept out behind. The soft pastels of pink, green, and blue porcelain blossoms are the only color against the creamy bisque. One angel presses both hands together in prayer, with a pink rose, green leaves, and a small blue blossom at the shoulder. The other rests a finger against the lips in thought and holds a pink rosebud, with a matching rose and blue blossom on the gown. Both are embossed HOMCO 1991 on the bottom, and each carries a script Mizuno signature on the lower back.
Lovely on a mantel, nursery shelf, or bedside table, and a thoughtful gift for anyone who collects angels. Their soft pastels also add a quiet, gentle touch to Christmas displays.
Home Interiors & Gifts, known to collectors as HomCo, was founded in Dallas in 1957 by Mary C. Crowley. It sold affordable home décor through the home-party model, with independent "displayers" showing pieces in living rooms across the country. The company was headquartered in Carrollton, Texas, and by the early 1990s it reported sales of more than $850 million and some 42,000 displayers. Figurines were a signature product, and many HomCo porcelain pieces of this era were made in Mexico. Mizuno's signature appears on HomCo porcelain figurines from the mid-1980s into the 2000s, and this pair dates to 1991, at the height of the company's popularity.
Pair them with our HomCo Toscany Vineyard Harvest boy and girl figurines, another bisque porcelain set from the same maker.
